We would like welcome you to The Cart Barn Inn and make you feel that you have arrived at the place you could feel at ease.

But first, let's introduce Cart Barn Inn's Innkeeper.  Marc Taylor is a welcome addition to Cart Barn Inn.  A native of Oregon, she is not a southerner but she is warm, kind, very accommodating and knows what Inn keeping is all about.  The first few nights Marc was here I began hearing how great she is from the guests.  That is something the owner needs to hear.  She stepped right into the inn keeping role without missing a beat.  She is a can-do person and likes to be left to the task at hand because she can handle it.  She doesn't seem to mind a challenge and is ready for most anything.  Now I will let Marc tell you about herself.

About Me

I feel very fortunate to live in the South. The last three years that I have been here I have met people from all over the world. I must say that Mississippi has something that I have not found elsewhere. The deep roots of the culture and history have captured my heart. People are genuinely friendly and down to earth.

Before I moved to Tennessee I would travel from Portland three times a year to help with Blues events. I am part of a big family of volunteers that want to keep the blues alive and share the passion for the music. My friends in Oregon started calling me the blues vagabond. My beautiful 23-year-old daughter is still in Oregon going to school and working. She understands Mom went to “do her thing.”

After leaving the corporate world in Oregon I decided to go have fun in 2008. I was at the Blues Foundation in Memphis and then moved to Clarksdale to work at The Shack Up Inn as night manager. The adventure begins anew now that I am here working for the Tylers at Cart Barn Inn. It doesn’t get more southern than this! I love interacting with people and feeling I am making a difference in their experience when visiting here.
